During the 2009 Ceremonies, I was in Southwest Georgia on vacation. But I was at the Georgia State Veterans Memorial Park. They did have a display area of weapons from WW 2, Korea, and Viet Nam. I thought some of our veterans from those areas would be interested in seeing some of these.

On Sunday evening, a small ceremony was held at the Union County Monument. A wreath was placed by American Legion Union Post 79 and the flags were lowered to half staff. The Blumenschein brothers were present and Herman Blumenschein was honored for his action in Europe during WW II.

The Memorial Day Parade went from downtown, out 5th Street to Oakdale Cemetery, where services were held to honor all of our War dead.

The Post was well represented in the antique firetruck, which has become a staple in Marysville prardes!
